After their initial treatments, I brought Blackie and Reiki home. Their recovery journeys were vastly different. Blackie couldn't stop eating—his ravenous appetite reflected the weeks of starvation he had endured. Reiki, on the other hand, adjusted more quickly, eating steadily and beginning to trust her new environment.
