Three Meals, Four Seasons with My Love

Zhu Yue was on her couch, her place a mess, clearly unkept for days. Seeing me, she gave a creepy smile. I scanned the room. Aside from the mess, no immediate hazards. I relaxed a bit. She stood, pulling down a cloth above the couch, revealing photos of Chi Yan—running, eating, even our kissing photo with her face swapped in. Pointing at them, she said, "Look, I knew Chi Yan first. We're the childhood sweethearts. Why are people calling me a bro-tea?" I stayed silent. She was unhinged; nothing would get through. My silence pissed her off. She glared. "For years, he had no other women. If you hadn't shown up, he'd be mine!" I'd had enough. "Plenty of single guys out there. You don't assume they're all in love with you, do you?" We were just a normal couple. Who were we hurting? Seeing her unhinged expression, I gave up talking. "Delete all that garbage you posted online and stop this nonsense." I turned to leave, but she grabbed me, sneering. "Delete it? Why? Chi Yan can't handle the rumors. He'll end up with me. Scared?" She was deranged. Seeing she wasn't planning to harm herself, I didn't want to stay. But as I turned, she said creepily, "How about a bet? Who will Chi Yan choose?" I was about to call her nuts when she held a lighter to the curtains. "Oh, crap!" I grabbed her cat's water bowl and doused it, scrambling for more water. She stood there, smirking, tossing out taunts. "So frantic. What, scared Chi Yan will save me first?" Insane. For a moment, I wanted to leave her. But I couldn't. If I did, Chi Yan would have to save her, and she'd think it was because he still cared. What a hassle. As the fire grew, Chi Yan burst in, extinguisher in hand, and put it out. Zhu Yue, thrilled, said, "Senior, I knew you were always watching me." Watching, my foot. If I hadn't called him, she'd have rotted there unnoticed. Chi Yan, stone-faced, told the police behind him, "Take her." Zhu Yue laughed and cried like a lunatic. I sighed, asking him, "You called the cops?" He looked at me, tone sharp. "With her personality, you think she'd hurt herself? I was worried about you. Called them just in case." He glared. "Lin Qiao, are you stupid? She's obsessed with me, not you. Why'd you come?" Ouch, harsh. I coughed, changing the subject. "All sorted out?" He'd been at the station dealing with the fallout. "Sorted. I've got nothing to hide. What's there to fear?" Chi Yan wiped soot off my face. "What'd you use to put out the fire?" I pointed to the empty cat water bowl. Zhu Yue, true to form, had zero fire safety sense—no extinguisher in sight. I griped about it, but Chi Yan's expression was unreadable. "What's that look? What's wrong with using water?" His gaze landed on an empty fire extinguisher by the door. "Ever consider the corridor might have one?" I hadn't noticed. I mean, who expects Zhu Yue to go full psycho and set her place on fire? Seeing my guilty look, he asked, "What'd I tell you before?" I mumbled, head down, "When you're out, always check for escape routes and extinguisher locations." He nodded. "Good. But you didn't do it today. Two quiz sets back home—fair?" Fair? He's saying fair? I'm his girlfriend, not his trainee. Why's he always testing me? I tried to argue. "I put out the fire in time, prevented a bigger disaster. Why punish me?"

Chi Yan's got this flaw—always making people do quizzes. Zhu Yue's obsession with him after all this is honestly a miracle.
